14.08.06 UK Japan 2008
A recently completed project for a UK/Japan Collaboration year in 2008 which is being planned by the British Embassy and British Council in Tokyo. From the start we were keen to find an idea that represented the collaboration of the two countries in a graphic way. Although the two languages are very different in their letterforms, after some exploration we realised that the Kanji (japanese text) for ‘nihonkoku’ (land of the rising sun), with some subtle adaptations, could also contain the letters ‘UK’. So with a very simple mark we are able to combine the two countries' names, in two different languages. Bilingual logo design is usually very difficult but this is a simple solution that will be used to hold together the various events throughout 2008.

02.08.06 567 messages in bottles
Last weekend was the V&A Fete, and keen to keep our post office theme ticking over we decided to let people send a 'message in a bottle' from the stand. We'll admit that we hadn't anticipated quite how many messages people would want to post (nearly 600 in total).
